The learning process for the camera work was insightful because me and my group tried to mimic camera shots we were shown in class to execute our story in the most immersive and direct way possible. While keeping the story simple and direct we wanted to find ways to keep it engaging. In order to accomplish this we used ongoing shots such as arc shot and tracking shot so the video wouldn't get repetitive with cutting back and forth.
For each project we started with planning a story board of the shots, movements, and scenes. Then for the first project we filmed the scenes as a group and then composed them all together in an editing software. For the second one we had to set up the shot of intimate objects, which was a much more difficult task because this had to be in picture form so there couldn't be a reliance on voices and body language to convey the emotional meaning of the scene, it was very dependent on the angles.
There were definitely more successes than challenges within the project. This was due to proper planning of the projects initially. My team went in with a clear vision of the shots and the story we wanted to convey and therefore with a strong foundation of the project we were able to accomplish everything in a timely manner.
What I have personally learned throughout the process of completing the projects is the depth and extent that one shot has on a story. When we were editing I truly grasped the important extent of how almost every scene mattered to the story.
